Normally my portraits are close to the reality. Most of the time the subject (or model) is recognizable and in a natural way portrayed. In this case it was different. The assignment was to transform a beautiful friendly woman (Loraine Delano) into a drug addict. The goal of the photo was to create a mild shock effect. Make-up artist Janika Rademakers did a marvelous job by adding blue bruises, typical hollow-eyed effect and some septic spots. After the make-up it comes down to the photographer and the interaction with the model. It is always difficult to judge your own work, but I am satisfied with the result. On fore-hand the goal was clearly formulated and the result meets the goal. Mission accomplished.
A different, but apposite, portrait
